How to create a one-sided journal entry

Setting up supervisory rights: To allow users to create one-sided journal entries, perform the following:

Version 3.7x:

    1. Expand Modules, Library Master, Security, and double-click User Maintenance.
    2. Enter the user ID for the person making the one-sided entry.
    3. Select the Supervisor Rights check box, and click Accept.

Version 4.x:

    1. Expand Modules, Library Master, Main, and click Role Maintenance.
    2. Select the applicable role, and click Security Events.
    3. Expand General Ledger, and select the Allow Out-of-Balance Journal Entries check box.
    4. Click Accept.
    5. Expand Modules, Library Master, Main, and click User Maintenance.
    6. Click Lookup, select the applicable user ID, and click Maintenance.
    7. Select the applicable role, and click Accept.

Perform the following steps to enter a one-sided journal entry:

  1. Expand Modules, General Ledger, Main, and click General Journal Entry.
  2. Enter the source journal code and source journal number.
  3. Enter the posting date, leaving the Reversing Date field blank.
  4. Enter a journal comment, if necessary.
  5. Click Lines, enter individual lines, and click Accept.
  6. Click One in response to the prompt, "This journal is out of balance. This entry must balance in order to post to General Ledger."
  7. Print and update the general journal.
